Coal Clough Lane was closed between Colin Street and Tay Street and firefighters spent nearly three hours making the area safe

A 'dangerous structure' incident resulted in the closure of a residential street as emergency services responded.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said two fire engines from Burnley and Preston and an aerial ladder platform from Preston were called to the incident at 7.38pm on Monday night . It involved the chimney of a domestic property and crews spent nearly three hours making the area safe, with the help of a 10.5m ladder and partner organisations.

"Firefighters used a 10.5m ladder and worked with partner organisations to make the scene safe. They were in attendance for almost three hours." A spokesperson told LancsLive: "A Burnley Council building control officer visited the site and liaised with the emergency services. The owner of the property was contacted, and he called in a contractor to remove the chimney stack.
