David Cameron has been appointed as foreign secretary in a cabinet reshuffle.
The former prime minister was seen entering Downing Street this morning shortly after the reshuffle started. Mr Cameron is no longer an elected politician - having stood down as an MP in 2016 - and while a government minister does not in theory have to be a member of either House of Parliament, in recent years such ministers have been appointed to the House of Lords in order for them to be accountable to parliament. The King has made Mr Cameron a baron for life.
Who is out? Suella Braverman In a statement released after her sacking, Ms Braverman said: 'It has been the greatest privilege of my life to serve as home secretary. I will have more to say in due course.' Ms Braverman provoked widespread condemnation for an article she wrote in The Times in which she accused the police of 'playing favourites' with left-wing groups over right-wing and national activists.
