This man o’ war washed up on Southport beach
While man o’ wars resemble jelly fish, and are often called blue bottle jelly fish, they are actually colonial hydrozoans – organisms made up of several tiny animals, called zoids. Man o’ wars generally live in the open ocean and are able to float at the surface because their bladders are filled with gas.
You then need to soak the painful area in warm water for as long as you can, for at least 30 minutes.
