The hearing took place at Nottingham Council House
A pre-inquest review hearing has taken place into the death of a killer who was jailed for life at HMP Nottingham. Wyndham Thomas was sentenced in 1998 for murdering 23-year-old Christopher Williams, in Nantyffyllon, Maesteg, Wales, the year before.
An enormous manhunt followed to track down the young dad's killers. He was due to spend his life in jail at HMP Nottingham.Thomas died on November 6, 2018, aged 41. Opening the pre inquest at Nottingham Council House on Monday , Area Coroner Laurinda Bower said: "I have received from government legal department two additional statements, one from the custodial manager and one from the prison officer - both in relation to the episode I am sure counsel will notice.
Further clarification was given during the hearing about whether Thomas' cell was entered into before his death. Ms Bower said: "There was a suggestion that at 5.27pm and then again at 5.28pm there were people who were suggested to have been seen entering the Wyndham's cell - so in very close proximity to him being discovered in the condition that he was.
The coroner has also suggested to a Minister of Justice representative to keep "a dialogue between yourself and counsel, and family, and any material that does substantiate that position is provided." She told the inquest: "The family is having a healthy degree of suspicion and I want their concerns to be aligned so that we do not have any rabbit holes for the jury to end up going down.
