Compared to the original Wooleator socks, which are among our favorite all-season cycling socks, the new Wooleator Pro models get a few upgrades to improve comfort and eco-friendliness.from Oregon, which is the first U.S. Farm Group to be certified under the RWS . DeFeet is working with the other suppliers used in their chain to make their wool socks RWS certified, too, and expect that to happen by the end of 2023 for all of their wool socks.
It’s worth noting that DeFeet was already using US-sourced wool from multiple farms, which reduced all of the transit required from their prior New Zealand supplier. But they’re migrating to Shaniko Wool for all of their wool socks over the next few months. Then, the socks virtual flat-toe seam, which is a process that links the open end of the sock together with the same single-needle knitting process used to create the body of the sock. The result is a perfectly flat “seam” that looks and feels as though it were knit as a single piece.
Lastly, they added Lycra to the heel and toe to give it a more compressive fit. They’re available in 6″, 3″, and 1″ cuffs, MSRP from $19.99 to $21.99 per pair.
