The Nottinghamshire house was sold at auction earlier this year

A Nottinghamshire home where novelist D.H. Lawrence lived for years faces a potentially very different future. , but now looks likely to become a six-bed house in multiple occupation .

Despite some opposition being voiced to the proposals, the use of the property as a HMO will not require planning permission as it falls under permitted development rights, with the planning application only relating to the extension which would allow rooms for residents to be larger. The home was sold at auction for £91,000 in April this year after a bidding war pushed the cost up from the guide price of £65,000.

It was the only one of the family homes to be semi-detached ,and it had a garden with a field at the back. The famous author's mother Lydia Lawrence died at the property in 1910, leaving him bereft.
