Another strike as the backlog of patients continues to grow. Do you still support the junior doctors' cause?
Junior doctors in Lincolnshire are staging their fifth strike since March, pressing the government for fairer wages.
However, junior doctors maintain that this is insufficient in light of the ongoing cost of living crisis, and the 35% pay freeze reduction they've experienced since 2008. Addressing the situation, Health and Social Care Secretary Steve Barclay said:"It is disappointing that thousands of appointments and procedures had to be postponed over the last week as a result of the BMA’s strike action, hindering efforts to cut NHS waiting lists.
Although significant, the repercussions of the July strikes paled in comparison to the BMA's June action, where staffing deficits meant rescheduling more than 1,000 elective procedures. NHS leaders emphasise these numbers as a testament to the intense pressures healthcare professionals are grappling with this summer.
