Their 111 wins a year ago were a franchise record.But thanks to the Padres, they couldn’t even get out of the National League Division Series.
Now, the NL West is shaping up to be even more competitive than the 22-game gap of a year ago. Perhaps more than ever, this showdown has juice — stakes only raised by the postseason history. “I just think the fanfare, the media-fare for the Padres heightens ,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said last month.
The two sides will square off six times over the next 10 days, starting with a three-game set that begins at Petco Park on Friday night.
