A group of Labour MPs warn the closure of Doncaster Sheffield Airport will impact key public air services.
The Department for Transport said Ms Trevelyan will "respond to the letter in full in due course".
Under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, Ms Trevelyan, who was appointed on 6 September, has the right to intervene due to the likely impact the closure would have on emergency services and agencies key to national security, the MPs said. "There can be no mistake; disruptions to these services will cost lives and cause illness and injury," the MPs said.Speaking to BBC Look North, Ms Truss said: "I want to make sure that airport survives."
