Twenty nine drivers were arrested on suspicion of drink or drug driving in Northamptonshire between Christmas and New Years, with 23 charged. It was the final week of Northamptonshire Police's annual Christmas operation in which they name and shame drivers charged with driving under the influence.
Drivers who cause a death while driving under the influence of drink or drugs face up to 14 years in prison. If they are involved in a collision, they risk up to six months in prison, an unlimited fine and a substantial driving ban. • Richard Dewey, 33, of Westminster Way, Daventry, was charged with being in charge of a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol. He will appear before Northampton Magistrates’ Court on February 13.
• Vadim Popa, 37, of Shrubfield Grove, Corby, was charged with driving whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol. He was due to appear before Northampton Magistrates on December 30. • Abdul Foysul, 37, of Westminster Road, Wellingborough, was charged with driving whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol. He will appear before Northampton Magistrates on February 16.• George Lazar, 45, of Swinford Hollow, Northampton, was charged with driving whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol. He will appear before Northampton Magistrates on February 16.
• Artur Lozinschi, 28, of Longueville Court, Northampton, was charged with failing to provide a breath sample in custody. He will appear before Northampton Magistrates on February 16.
