A change to where taxis can drop off customers is also set to come into force next week
People driving to the train station are being warned parking has changed from today as major works begin.
Taxis are moving from New Station Street to Princes Square next to Wetherspoons from 7pm on Thursday, May 18. And from midnight on Friday, May 19, part of New Station Street will close to pedestrians.Pedestrians will still be able to use the other side of New Station Street to get towards Boar Lane. However to get towards City Square, pedestrians are being advised to use the entrance opposite the Majestic Building.
Work has been underway since last year - this is the next phase. The whole project is due for completion in September 2025. Councillor Helen Hayden, executive member for infrastructure and climate, said: “These works will transform the area into a more attractive gateway to our city which meets the current and future needs of Leeds and everyone that uses the station, and alongside City Square will provide a cleaner and safer pedestrian environment.
