Around 38% of British motorists are worried about paying for their next MOT and the cost of living crisis means lots of drivers are struggling to afford the upkeep.
Owning a car can be incredibly expensive, there’s not only petrol to pay for but insurance and maintenance too – not to mention the annual MOT.crisis means lots of drivers are struggling to afford the upkeep, according to new research.
Perhaps even more concerning is that research from Halford’s has found that 45% of drivers said that, if they can’t afford an MOT, they will drive their vehicle regardless – which raises issues about the number of unsafe vehicles on the roads. This could be down to the fact that a car is essential for lots of people to get to work and go about their daily lives – with nine in 10 admitting this situation, explaining that their job would be impossible, or much harder, without a car.
Also, one in five said they will try to use their car less without an MOT – but will still use it if they need to.The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency has set the MOT price in the UK at £54.85. But the exact MOT cost depends on what type of vehicle you drive and which parts have failed .
