He was found with more than 137 wraps of crack cocaine
A 19-year-old man was found with more than 137 wraps of crack cocaine and a knife after being stopped by police in St Ann's. Nottinghamshire Police says officers were already preparing to arrest Keanu Mckoy, of Wolseley Road in Mitcham, London, when they spotted him on Heaton Close.
He was detained at the roadside and admitted to having drugs and a large knife on him seconds later. Along with the 137 individual wraps of crack cocaine and the knife tucked into his waistband, a roll of cash and three mobile phones were seized from Mckoy during the stop on January 19. He was arrested and later charged with intent to supply Class A drugs and the possession of a knife in a public place. Mckoy pleaded guilty to the charges and appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday for sentencing. He was given three years in prison. Detective Constable Laura Price, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "As Mckoy found out to his cost, Nottinghamshire Police simply won't tolerate drugs being dealt on our streets.
"Thanks to the officers involved in this arrest we were able to seize 137 wraps of crack cocaine, whilst also taking a dangerous knife out of harm's way. It should go without saying but carrying a weapon of this kind in public is against the law and is never acceptable."
