EastEnders aired an emotional episode as Dot came home

EastEnders fans were left incredibly confused over just how Albert Square legend Dot Cotton, who was played by the late June Brown, was related to longtime staple Whitney Dean during tonight's episode.

As fans shared their confusion over why Whitney seemed so heartbroken when Dot's body came home to the square, another tried to clear things up. Others shared their puzzlement over the scenes as Whitney joined the rest of the Branning family and Sonia in sobbing at the sight of their beloved matriarch's coffin.

Meanwhile, other viewers were in tears as they watched the soap begin to say goodbye to one of EastEnders' biggest legends over the course of 40 years.
