EastEnders' Roxy actress Rita Simons meets Hollyoaks director ahead of new soap role
EastEnders legend Rita Simons has been pictured in Liverpool as she prepares to film scenes for her new role in Hollyoaks.
Peter Hunt has worked on shows including Coronation Street and Shameless, taking up the position of Head of Casting & Casting Director of Hollyoaks in 2015. In 2017, Rita's EastEnders character Roxy died on New Year's Day when she drowned with her sister Ronnie. During an interview on Good Morning Britain, the actress confirmed that another drama had reached out to her. But when presenter Adil Ray started probing into who it might be she said: "I'm not telling ya!"
Rita was candid about how much the process affected her, and opened up about how an amalgamation of work pressure and heartbreak caused her to suffer a nervous breakdown.
