Ben urged Jay to open up in emotional scenes Ben Mitchell was quick to remind Jay Brown just how loved he is in EastEnders after he opened up about his mental health struggles. Jay, as viewers will know, has been struggling to come to terms with the death of his beloved wife Lola Pearce , who tragically died earlier this year after a battle with a brain tumour.
It’s like physical pain. Sometimes I just don’t see no point in carrying on I just feel like I’ve lost everything.’ Ben took Jay’s hand and reiterated just how loved he is, promising to be there for him from here on out, telling him that they’ll make plans and do things together as a family.
