Both the question itself – Should Scotland be an independent country? – and the proposed answers of Yes or No could both change before voters go to the polls
A spokeswoman said: “We are not currently working on any requests from the Scottish Government to assess a referendum question and have not received a request following the First Minister’s statement on 28 June.
“Section 2 of the Referendums Act 2020 sets out that the Scottish Government must ask the Electoral Commission to test a referendum question.”
