Adam Johnson died after an incident in the game between Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers
Ice hockey organisations around the world say they are "working closely" after a coroner issued a stark warning following the death of Adam Johnson. Mr Johnson, 28, died after suffering a fatal cut to the neck in a game between Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers on Saturday, October 28.
"Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Adam Johnson at this difficult time." The EIHA has already said neck guards will be mandatory from January 2024 onwards but it does not oversee the Elite League. Omar Pacha, Panthers CEO, said: "We'd like to thank our amazing supporters and partners for their patience with us at this difficult time for everyone. You have constantly been in our thoughts.
"It's bound to be an emotional night but a special one too as we come together to remember Adam, but this is also an important process for getting the team back on the ice. We are incredibly proud of all our players and staff and how they have handled themselves during this difficult time.
