The bird was seen stuck to the D of the ASDA sign
Footage sent to the Glasgow Times appears to show the bird stuck to the letter D of the Asda sign in Robroyston on Tuesday. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has since confirmed that they had safely recovered the bird, which has now been taken into the care of the SSPCA.
A spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 5.19pm on Tuesday, March 14 to reports of a bird trapped in the netting above a commercial building's signage on Monument Drive, Glasgow. "Operations Control mobilised one fire appliance to assist with the rescue of the bird, which was handed into the care of the Scottish SPCA.
"As a humanitarian organisation, SFRS crews use their technical training and expertise as well as specialist equipment to rescue animals. "This can prevent members of the public placing themselves at risk by trying to effect their own rescue.”
