Emergency services raced to Bridge of Weir road on the A761 this morning following a three-vehicle crash at around 7.10am. The road was closed for over four hours as drivers were urged to avoid the area.

Emergency services rushed to a three-vehicle crash in Bridge of Weir this morning with a young man now reported in connection with the incident.

The crash, involving three cars, happened at around 7.10am this morning, March 8 on Bridge of Weir Road, with officers placing a cordon at Locher Road and Prieston Road as they urged drivers to avoid the area.READ MORE: Coatbridge XL Bully-type dog put down as police rush to incident outside propertyA 22-year-old man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment and will also be reported in connection with road traffic offences.

In a statement issued by Police Scotland earlier this morning, they said: "Emergency services are in attendance on the A761, Bridge of Weir Road following a crash involving three cars which was reported around 7.10am on Friday, 8 March, 2024."Bridge of Weir Road is closed at Locher Road at Prieston Road and drivers are asked to avoid the area."

They have since released an update which reads: "The A761, Bridge of Weir Road has reopened following a crash involving three cars which was reported around 7.10am on Friday, 8 March. "A 22-year-old man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment. He'll also be reported in connection with road traffic offences."
