Attah refused to turn round and face the officers or put his hands against a wall on several occasions.Prosecutor Jessica McGowan said:"This ended in Attah running off towards St Enoch's Square and a foot chase ensued. "While chasing him, officers noted Attah remove a long dark object from his jacket and hold it in his hand while running.Attah was apprehended and the knife - which was nine-and-a-half-inches - was recovered from the construction site.Attah - who works at dessert shop Krispy Kreme - made admissions that it belonged to him.
The first offender pleaded guilty today to intentionally obstructing police as well as having a knife in a public place without reasonable excuse or lawful authority. John Kilcoyne, defending, told the court:"He is a third-year university student at UWS doing engineering.Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Joseph Platt.
