EXCLUSIVE: Carney Chukwuemeka approached over nationality switch with England at risk of losing top prospect
England are facing losing another top prospect after Chelsea star Carney Chukwuemeka was asked to switch allegiances.GettyBut talkSPORT understands that Austria have asked Chukwuemeka to switch allegiances from England to them.
Chukwuemeka made his debut for the England Under-20s in September 2022 where he played against Chile in a 3-0 win.England have high hopes for the teenager, who was even handed the captain’s armband against Chile. Austria are led by Ralf Rangnick, who has a history of helping develop young players with roles at RB Leipzig, Schalke and Red Bull Salzburg.
However, Chukwuemeka is yet to make a decision on his future while he has had a tough first season since signing for Chelsea.The Blues snapped up the wonderkid last summer from Aston Villa in a deal worth £20million.
