England give in to FIFA over OneLove armband stance due to potential ‘sporting sanctions’A joint statement has said that England and six other associations have told their captains not to wear the OneLove armband at the World Cup over fears of sporting sanctions.
It was also said that any captains wearing the OneLove armband would have been booked during a match. “As national federations, we can’t put our players in a position where they could face sporting sanctions, including bookings, so we have asked the captains not to attempt to wear the armbands in FIFA World Cup games.
