I don’t think Everton can switch to two in the middle just yet, and not against a side as technically gifted as this Brentford team. So for me it remains 4-5-1 - I subscribe to the view there was a gameplan against Arsenal, it was just poorly executed. The big question is whether you change the midfield.
The prospect of Onana and Garner feeding balls into the channels for Dwight McNeil and Danjuma to attack and supply the striker is one that I think holds potential for Everton. Beto starts up top for me - I would have started Calvert-Lewin against Arsenal and would ideally do so today, but I don’t think Beto deserves to lose his place having gained it last week. He was left with little chance of success.
The Blues barely laid a glove on the Gunners at Goodison Park six days ago and by putting in the lowest number of crosses of any side in the division last weekend , they failed Beto on his home debut by not providing the 6ft 4in centre-forward with a supply line. That said, it’s not like a drastic change in personnel is necessarily going to cure such ills.
Dyche should take the game to Brentford and start both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto in a bid to mix things up. Arnaut Danjuma and Dwight McNeil should start on either flank.
