We've said goodbye to summer and that means only one thing, the clocks will go back this month.
It's that time of the year again, the days are getting colder, the nights are getting darker and the leaves have all changed colour. The green colours we're used to are changing to oranges and people are out picking their pumpkins.The Government's guidance explains: "In the UK the clocks go forward one hour at 1am on the last Sunday in March, and back one hour at 2am on the last Sunday in October."The period when the clocks are one hour ahead is called British Summer Time .
Clocks went forward this year on March 26, and will go back again on Sunday, October 29. The clocks going back means we'll get an extra hour in bed, but for those who work nights, it will mean an extra hour on shift. For lots of people, the clocks changing means we're officially in autumn. Others consider the autumn equinox to be the turning point. This is when the sun shines on the equator, illuminating the northern and southern hemispheres with the same amount of rays. The autumn equinox has already passed, falling this year on September 23.
Clocks will not change again until March 31, 2024, when time will jump forward an hour. Next year, October 27 is the date that clocks will 'fall back' again.
