Actress Jane Whittenshaw - who is known for her appearances in The Bill, EastEnders, Call the Midwife and Silent Witness - has sadly died.
Former EastEnders actress Jane Whittenshaw - known for her role as social worker Anita Banks - has sadly died.
Jane made her first appearance as Anita in June 1997, and has been hailed as "generous to a fault" and was "great fun to be around". "As well as an esteemed client, Jane was a dear friend, who was generous to a fault and great fun to be around. She was an immensely talented actor and a voice superstar, who leaves an extraordinary legacy of over 500 radio plays, courtesy of multiple stints on the BBC Radio Rep and many independent productions.
The actress is also known for her roles in Call the Midwife, Grange Hill, Silent Witness, The Bill and Endeavour. Jane's final role was in All 4 series 'I Hate You', which was released in 2022.
