The Met office has forecast that a 'warm air plume' will send temperatures soaring across the UK this weekend and Leeds is set to bask in some of that heat.
According to the forecaster, the weather front will push out the area of high pressure that has brought settled weather across the country over the last few weeks. This will mean a high chance of some thundery showers and unsettled weather across the city even as temperatures climb. In Leeds it is expected that temperatures in some areas could reach as high as 25C on Saturday afternoon. They will hit similar levels on Sunday with the forecaster predicting a high of 25C again in some areas.Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Dan Harris said: “Temperatures will rise later this week and into the weekend, with a plume of warm air being drawn in from the south.
“Coupled with the rise in temperatures is an increase in the likelihood of some potentially heavy and thundery showers, which could bring some localised disruption in the far southwest from as early as late Friday, but more likely more widely into the weekend, though it is not possible to be definitive about exact details this far from the potential event.”Initial low cloud quickly retreating back to the coast during the day, allowing for long sunny periods to develop inland.
