Millwood Primary Special School on School Street, Radcliffe, currently has capacity for 170 pupils
An award winning special school hopes to build seven new classrooms and an assembly hall so they can take in 70 more pupils. .
A planning statement in support of the expansion, said: “The expansion of Millwood is included within Bury Council’s strategy to deliver an increased capacity of high quality, local provision for SEND pupils. This increase in capacity at the school will see the number of staff increase by 35, to a total of 158 staff members.
The existing school will remain operational throughout the works, which is expected to be completed in early 2025, after starting in March 2024.
