A cleaning expert has revealed the £1.50 trick to get stains and smells out of your carpet, which is perfect timing for World Cup season - with drinks and food likely to go flying during a sudden goal celebration.
Carpets can be one of the trickiest household fabrics to clean, as they obviously can't be pulled up and popped in the washing machine. But Stan Tomov, a carpet cleaner from Fantastic Cleaners, has shared a cheap trick to keep yours in tiptop shape. Stan recommends a staple food-cupboard item, that you may already have lying around. And, if you do not have any in your kitchen, then it can be purchased for no more than £1.50 from most shops.The item that Stan recommends is a simple bottle of white vinegar. He says that the product will help to get rid of stains and smells from your carpet, regardless of what caused them.
Stan recommends popping the vinegar into a spray bottle and spraying on your carpet, where the stain is. For alcohol stains, he said that - though the vinegar itself smells strong - it will absorb the lingering smell of alcohol and eventually disappear. For getting nasty stains food stains out of your carpet, you may need to employ something a bit stronger. And Stan recommends a simple mixture of bicarbonate of soda and water, leave the mixture on the stain for 20 minutes and then rinse the area with a damp cloth.
