EA and Codemasters have got F1 fans’ motors running by confirming the release date for the upcoming next entry in their racing franchise – F1 23.before missing last year’s title. It’ll see the return of young upstart Aiden Jackson and Devon Butler, who have gone from rivals in the previous entries to teammates for the fictional Konnersport Racing Team.
Away from the story mode, we’re promised a refined handling model in the driving seat of this year’s game, which Codemasters say will make for more “predictable behaviour” from the AI as well as an all new physics system that “gives the cars better traction when breaking, accelerating and cornering’. Along with this, a new Precision Drive controller technology promises pad players more precise control of their vehicles than ever before.
Of course, input from the community – as well as a focus on bringing the game closer to its real life counterpart – will be a big factor this season. This includes the debut of 35% race distance, and the addition of red flags which have both been long-requested features. Alongside the full 2023 season calendar, there’ll also be a number of fan-favourite legacy circuits included in the mix at launch – including Paul Ricard Shanghai and Portimao .
Speaking of the 2023 season, the new F1 World Hub will ensure the game remains fresh with additions and changes that keep up to date with the real world season – introducing new players to the world of F1 alongside a new progression system allowing players to unlock car upgrades, liveries, race suits and more – plus a safety ranking system for both offline and online play to encourage fair racing; which will also be a part of the game’s matchmaking to ensure you’re paired with like-minded...
