Families' anger as increasing list of care home restrictions mean residents facing winter alone 🔴 It’s a national scandal that many care home residents will be facing their third and, in some cases, last winter alone, campaigners said
They warned that care home residents should not have to battle through “senseless” rules to see their loved ones during what could be their last winter alive.

Karen Taft’s mother is in a care home in Stoke-on-Trent and ‘feels abandoned’ when outbreak lockdowns mean she is not permitted to receive visits from her children
Ms Taft said her mother, who suffers with depression, has been affected by the reduced visiting from loved ones. “She looks forward to visits and feels like we’ve abandoned her if she hasn’t seen us for a while,” Ms Taft said. “Whilst she doesn’t have a dementia diagnosis she does get forgetful and sometimes confused.”and lives in a care home in south Wales, said all visitors were banned during a recent Covid outbreak.
The 53-year-old commercial specialist said the limitations imposed by the care home were “appalling and frustrating”. One relative, who did not want to give her name for fear of damaging her relationship with care home Innage Grange – Bridgnorth deteriorating further, said she did not see her 92-year-old mother who has Alzheimer’s for 15 months between 2020 to 2021 and is still facing challenges today.
