A Scots family has been forced to leave their mould-ridden council flat - despite the local authority insisting it is safe to live in.
And after her bathroom ceiling crumbled following a leak in August, the single mum dialled the local authority's emergency number to report the issue - but nobody turned up. Aberdeen Live reports that she called again the next day and was told an inspector would arrive on September 6. The mum eventually took the decision to flee from the filthy flat with her children - aged 10, four and two-years-old. They are now living with Karolina's mother in her two-bed house in Seaton. She continues to pay the rent in her former home and requested a refund by the local authority, which was refused.
She added: “I moved out of concern for my safety and that of my children. It’s beyond belief that the council could ignore a single mother with young children for such a long time.”
