Keir Hunter said it is 'unfathomable' no criminal charges have been brought over the death of his 75-year-old dad, Wallace, who suffered 83% burns to his body.

The family of a pensioner who was scalded to death in a hotel bath have launched legal action over the tragedy. Wallace Hunter, of Eaglesham, East Renfrewshire, was staying at Pitlochry Hydro for a weekend away with his wife in December 2019.

He said it was "unfathomable" no criminal charges had been brought over the incident and the company which owned the Perth and Kinross hotel at the time is now liquidated. "My family ruminate on my dad's experience on the other side of the door, facing his fate and knowing that people were trying to get to him.

He added: "So here you have a hotel accepting elderly and more vulnerable guests while there are claims about the hot water. There's no way this should not have been resolved prior, there should have been protocols in place."
