The family of a Derry schoolboy who spent two months in hospital after a horror playpark fall has spoken out to thank medical staff in Derry and Belfast for their care.

Read more: Derry schoolboy 'determined to walk and play football again' after back broken in playpark fall In a post on social media shared with Belfast Live this week, Mr Lynch said: "The last number of days have been emotional as one chapter of Adams rehabilitation and recovery ends and the next one begins as we are, coming home from Royal hospital Belfast for the last time, and we are preparing to travel to England for the next chapter.

He continued: "We want to say thank you to all the nurses in ICU & Barbour Ward, Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children , who were always so attentive and responsive to our needs. They made sure that Adam was comfortable and that he had everything he needed. "You provided Adam with challenge, and encouragement to tackle the tasks presented, but you also provided Adam with an amazing level of emotional support, you were always there to listen and offer words of encouragement to not just Adam but us as a family.
