'We've been able to pour our grief into something so loving and it's allowed us to keep her memory alive.'
The family of Natalie McNally have raised over £11,000 for Women's Aid in memory of the murdered Lurgan woman.She was 15 weeks pregnant at the time of her death, with a baby boy she had planned to call Dean.Her family have since rallied to create a series of events aimed at raising funds for causes close to Natalie's heart, with the latest a Power Brunch event for women in Natalie's home town of Lurgan.
"Natalie was such an activist - she may have been petite and quite small, but she really had a voice," Gemma told Belfast Live."We held one in Dublin, it came off the back of an idea of a good friend of mine who runs a women's circle. The "we" Gemma refers to includes Hollie Donnelly, Natalie's sister-in-law, who said it was all about creating a positive legacy for her.
Natalie's mum Bernie was presented with a print of the lyrics of her daughter's favourite song , "Human" by The Killers, in a touching moment on Saturday."It's so important that we remember Natalie for being so effervescent and bubbly and a real passionate activist. Gemma said that, combined with inspirational speakers and a chance for women to come together, was something Natalie would have been proud of and that there was more still to come.
