Emily's killer Mark Nicholls has been jailed for her horrifying murder
The family of Emily Sanderson has said their hearts have been ripped out as her killer was handed a life sentence.
Sheffield Crown Court heard part of Emily's last phone call to a taxi company as she requested pick her up from Nicholls' home in Crofton Avenue, Sheffield, on May 19 this year. The harrowing call heard the beginning of the attack and "unrelenting avalanche of violence" rained on her by Nicholls, and her screams.
"Her son and two daughters have lost their mum. Emily and her kids adored and cared for each other. They needed her in their lives and she has been stolen. I have had the daughter I loved taken away and have had to experience every parents' nightmare and live through the death of my child." In the statement, Christine added: "We will forever be reliving this time and wondering whether there was anything we could have done...What we have experienced in the wake of this tragedy has done irreversible damage to all our lives, she was the heart of our family, and our heart has been ripped out.
