Ferne McCann has broken her silence after being accused of sending voice notes about acid attack victim Sophie Hall. The Only Way Is Essex star has released a statement to her 2.9m Instagram followers confirming she has apologised to Sophie.

McCann has now said she does not believe Ms Hall is "ugly or stupid" and insists the voice notes were heavily edited in an attempt to discredit her and her reputation. "In particular, I want to apologise to Sophie Hall. I do not believe her to be ugly or stupid. She has been brave beyond belief." "What I can say is that the voice messages that are being released are manipulated; edited and taken entirely out of context.

She was one of 14 people who were injured by McCann’s ex Collins in the acid attack. He is currently serving 20 years in prison.
