Staff switched the gas off before the fire service arrived
Merseyside Fire and Rescue were called to Edge Lane at around 8.40pm today, Monday, August 21. Three fire engines were sent to the scene and when firefighters arrived they found a fire had broken out in the kitchen.
Eyewitnesses said they saw "lots of smoke", however no flames. A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue said the fire service liaised with kitchen staff and management. A spokesperson said: "Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at an incident on Edge Lane. Crews were alerted at 8.40am and two fire engines were on scene at 8.46am. At the height of the incident a total of three fire engines attended.
