The fire broke out in a flat above some shops in the Lingfield Drive area.
Much of a first floor flat has been destroyed in a fire that broke out late last night in Moortown, Leeds. According to information released by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, the fire broke out in a flat above some shops in the Lingfield Drive area.
The alarm was raised after 10pm and the number of pumps sent out to deal with the incident was raised to five after reports that some people were possibly involved at the scene. The fire service then also enlisted an aerial appliance with support crews. Firefighters reported that around 75 per cent of the property was affected by the fire, adding that there were "exposure risks to two sides", meaning that the fire had to be contained to stop it spreading to neighbouring properties.
Crews used two sets of breathing apparatus and four hose reels to extinguish the fire. The firefighters later confirmed that all persons were accounted for and the incident was reduced to two pumps. Firefighters attending the scene included those from fire stations at Moortown, Cookridge, Leeds, Killingbeck, Bradford, and Hunslet.
