Peter Pelling was reported missing after emergency services were alerted to the incident near Marykirk in Aberdeenshire at around 3am on Friday.
A man who became trapped in his vehicle during Storm Babet has been named locally after his body was recovered.
There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal. "He was a much loved son, brother and uncle. Funeral arrangements will be confirmed at a later date. RIP Uncle Peter." Mr Pelling was one of three people who died in Scotland during the challenging weather conditions brought by Storm Babet when it struck the country on Wednesday last week.
