Our thoughts are with Sophie's friends and family
A 16-year-old girl from Cumbernauld, who died following a crash on the M73 last Saturday, has been named by police.
Sophie Laing was sat in the rear seat when two cars collided on the northbound carriageway near the Gartcosh junction at around 1.30pm on January 28.READ MORE: Glasgow police seize guns and drugs worth £9million in major blow to organised crimeOfficers arrested a 42-year-old man, who was uninjured, in connection with a road traffic offence and later released as police carry out further enquiries.
Constable Paul Mallon, Lanarkshire Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Sophie’s family and friends at this difficult time and we ask that their privacy is respected. “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would urge anyone who may have information which could assist to contact officers.”
