Jaskirat Kaur is accused of killing little Shay, who was discovered with catastrophic injuries in their home in Rowley Regis, West Midlands. The 33-year-old appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court as a video of her daughter playing with friends was released.

In a series of emotional Facebook posts, Kayleigh Colclough, who shared a flat with Kaur and her daughter in Smethwick, wrote: ‘I took them in and they lived with me for five years. ‘I wouldn’t say I’m much of a godmother now I let you down but I promise you I will get you justice. ‘I promise you I will get justice for Shay.
