The problem came to light as councillors discussed the fact that 3% of residents had been affected by flooding, according to the council’s Glasgow Household Survey 2023, which interviewed about 1000 people. She added: “If this is suggesting that anywhere close to three per cent of the properties in our city are being flooded I think that is probably a problem and really concerning for those home owners or renters.”
He added: “It is about sudden downpours overwhelming the drainage system creating a problem that within 24 hours has gone away. I do think gully cleaning is an issue but I’m not sure we are going to defeat climate change by increasing the frequency of gully cleaning. I think the issues are significantly greater than that.”
