The payments will be accepted from this weekend
A football club has announced it will be accepting matchday payments in digital currency during the new season.
Digital payments will start being accepted from this weekend when the club hosts a massive pre-season game against Merthyr Town.A statement on the club's site read: "After several months of discussions, planning and preparations, Carlton Town will be one of only a handful of football clubs in the UK that will accept Bitcoin payments throughout the ground this coming season.
It added: "With relatively few businesses accepting Bitcoin as a payment method, Carlton Town are setting themselves ahead of the rest of the field and showing a clear intent towards planning for the future."
