The pundits have aired their opinions on a disappointing afternoon for the league champions.
A Marley Watkins goal has piled the pressure on Brendan Rodgers' Celtic side after it sealed a 1-0 Viaplay Cup last 16 win for Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, meaning hopes for a Treble like last season under Ange Postecoglou are already over. Callum McGregor has called it a 'crossroads' moment for the Celtic stars similar to the one under their former Aussie leader two years ago and now they must respond in games against St Johnstone and Rangers before the international break.
Bonner said: "The performance wasn't good enough and the quality was lacking, and you don't normally say that about Celtic over the last period. Whether he will gets players in that will improve that or whether he will need to work with the group that he has there to get the mentality right, as it's only the start of the season and it's a long season.
"They tried to play through them and didn't get any sort of joy. It was a very similar to the Rangers one where they reduced the opposition to very few opportunities. They lost their identity a little bit today." Neil Lennon Celtic's former boss was on Viaplay duties and directed his post-match assessment towards the transfer market. And he reckons the Hoops need to go shopping before the September 1st deadline.
