They were left with hypothermia symptoms after the dinghy was caught in an easterly wind and blown offshore near North Pier
Rescue teams from RNLI were called out to reports of 'persons in the water'. When they arrived to the location off Blackpool's North Pier, two 'fortunate' adults in an inflatable dinghy were found.
Following their recovery, they were cared for by the North West Ambulance Service. RNLI Blackpool crews issued a statement following the rescue mission. "Blackpool’s inshore Atlantic 85 crew were at the time engaged in a joint training exercise with the volunteer crew from Lytham RNLI. Both vessels were immediately diverted to incident area as well as Blackpool’s inshore, D class, lifeboat crew being paged.
"At one stage, the couple lost the paddle, and one entered the water in an attempt to recover it. Both were recovered to the Atlantic 85 showing symptoms of hypothermia, transported to the shore where they were handed over to the care of the North West Ambulance Service.
