40-year-old Ben Foster conceded five goals on Saturday in Wrexham's 5-5 draw with Swindon Town in League Two
The 40-year-old shot stopper only came out of retirement in March to fill in for the Red Dragons after Rob Lainton suffered an injury. During this time, the ex-England international became a fan favourite and saved a last minute penalty to help the Welsh club beat Notts County in a pivotal top of the table National League clash last season.
Wrexham have conceded five against both MK Dons and Swindon Town already this season and Foster has yet to keep a clean sheet. The 5-5 draw with the Robins on Saturday proved to be his last appearance as he announced his retirement on Monday morning. In a statement, Foster said: "The honest truth is that my performances this season haven’t reached the level I demand of myself and I feel that now is the right time to retire.
