A major security operation took place at the Derry City Cemetery on Tuesday after the suspicious devices were found, leading to the facility being closed to visitors
.Prior to the event at the republican plot in the cemetery, there were scenes of violence in the Creggan area when a number of missiles, including petrol bombs, were hurled by young people at a police Land Rover monitoring the pre-commemoration parade.
He said: “These actions have seen the exploitation of young people in the illegal parade, with a complete disregard for public safety. Masked men throw petrol bombs at a police car during an anti-Good Friday agreement rally on the 25th anniversary of the peace deal in Londonderry “We urge anyone with information that may assist the investigation to call police or contact Crimestoppers, which can be done anonymously.”
