Pensioners from Lancaster, Blackburn and Preston have reported receiving phone calls over the past month from people claiming to be detectives and warning them of suspicious activity on their bank cards
Fraudsters pretending to be police officers have swindled more than £40,000 from elderly victims in a flurry of scams in recent weeks.
One offender provided the name and collar number of a Lancashire Police officer and convinced a woman in her 80s to withdraw nearly £3,000 claiming it was needed as evidence. Last Thursday, another woman in her 80s, from Longridge, near Preston, was duped out of £8,250 in a similar way. A 27-year-old man from London and two men aged 19 and 25 from Nelson were arrested earlier this month in connection with the frauds in eastern areas of Lancashire.To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that
