There could be some delays
A freight train hit an 'obstruction' in Nottinghamshire, leading to delays to services in the county. The incident was reported just after 6.20am on Tuesday, August 8 between Nottingham and Netherfield Junction.
Network Rail and the emergency services were called to the scene as safety checks were carried out, East Midlands Railway said in a statement. The obstruction was removed just after 6.40am but passengers were warned there would likely be some delays and 'short notice alterations'. Trains running between Nottingham and Grantham/Newark Castle are affected by the incident, EMR says. A spokesperson added: "Trains running in both directions between Nottingham and Netherfield Junction can run as normal. However, due to the delay whilst safety checks took place, late notice cancellations and alterations should be expected."
